SUBJECT OVERVIEW

In this course the dynamic nature of the Tourism Industry is examined through focusing on contemporary issues overtime. Tourism is a language rich course and student knowledge is developed through practical, investigative, report and creative tasks.

Throughout this course students will:

  • Develop and understand tourism knowledge, including the nature of tourists, tourism, and the tourism industry
  • Apply an understanding of tourism concepts, including sustainable tourism and cultural sustainability in different contexts — local, national, and global
  • Investigate and analyse tourism trends, developments, and/or contemporary issues
  • Apply practical tourism skills in different contexts
  • Interpret and analyse information about tourism to recognise different perspectives and develop and clarify their own perspectives
  • Communicate information about tourism for particular audiences and purposes, using appropriate terminology, forms, and acknowledgment of sources

Additional Information

Costs: $55 fee (Fees may change prior to January 2025 when invoices are sent) applies to cater for the compulsory excursions. Excursion locations may include but are not limited to:
