Student Leadership

Middle Year S4S

The middle year S4S team consist of year 8 and 9 students who meet once a week to discuss student issues, projects and provide various groups with student feedback.  This team is led by middle school captains who students who have been chosen by their peers to lead the middle school student body for the year. 

Middle years S4S is an official Rotary Interact group and work closely with Rotary who provide advice, financial assistance and mentoring.

Middle years S4S students participate in the following:

  • discuss and problem solve student issues
  • advise on whole school policies
  • advise on LIFT
  • attend annual leadership training
  • assist with showcase night as guides and speak at the principal’s address
  • participate in whole school assemblies
  • lead middle years assembly once a term
  • fundraise and self-manage for their budget
  • connect with the community specifically The Hut Community Centre
  • organise, facilitate and lead the winter house hamper challenge to collect food for families in our community who are struggling financially
  • train as circus performers and face painters for the Stirling christmas pageant
  • design and make wares to sell the Stirling christmas pageant
  • volunteer as canteen helpers
  • support charities and develop and project fundraising activities

Recruitment for middle years S4S occurs mid term 1 and involves students self-nominating and participating in a S4S led interview.

Senior Years S4S

The senior S4S team consist of year 10-12 students who meet once a week to discuss student issues, projects and provide various groups with student feedback.  This team is led by our school captains who are year 12 students who have been chosen by their peers and school management to lead our student body for the year.  School captains chair meetings, meet regularly with the principal and their mentor teacher, attend and report at governing council and represent the school at various community functions.  Year 12 students in senior S4S can opt into the executive team where they each have a focus project that focuses on improved school culture for the year.  Some executive projects have included leading the management of the canteen helpers, middle S4S mentorship and leading S4S publicity.

S4S have community partnerships with The Rotary Club of Stirling, The Hut Community Centre, Legacy (Stirling) and The Adelaide Hills Council (YAC). 

Senior S4S students participate in the following:

  • discuss and problem solve student issues
  • advise on whole school policies
  • co-construction and advise on LIFT
  • attend annual leadership training
  • assist with showcase night running the S4S booth, leading and speaking at the principal’s address and as tour guides
  • organise and facilitate whole school assemblies
  • fundraise at sports day and swimming carnival providing food stalls
  • self manage their budget
  • connect with the community
  • project manage annual and legacy projects
  • mentor middle years S4S
  • manage the canteen roster and volunteer
  • support charities
  • project manage
  • advise on whole school policies

Recruitment for senior years S4S occurs early term 4 and involves students self-nominating and participating in a student an S4S led interview.
