11 Special Interest Volleyball A

SACE Stage 1: 10 Credits / 1 Semester / Health and Physical Education

Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of the year 10 Volleyball course.

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Stage 1 Volleyball effectively integrates theoretical topics into practical movement concepts. With a strong focus on data collection and analysis students will use drone footage, video technology, surveys and fitness testing to improve Volleyball performance, participation, collaboration and communication.

This program can also be a pre-requisite for SACE Stage 2 Physical Education, with the same concepts taught in Stage 1 Physical Education A.

Topics may include:

All topics are taught through practical play. Students will explore:

  • Exercise physiology, fitness and defensive and offensive movement concepts and strategies
  • Barriers to participation in physical activities and sports, including sailing.

ASSESSMENT

Students are required to demonstrate learning in two assessment tasks

    Performance improvement 50%

  • Analysis of movement performance and consider ways to improve performance.

    Physical Activity Investigation 50%

  • Intergration of movement concepts to reflect on factors that enhance performance outcomes.

Additional Information

Students can not undertake both Stage 1 PE A and Stage 1 Volleyball A.


Cost: $80

All subject costs are subject to approval, are approximate and subject to change in 2025. 

It is a requirement for students who select Year 10 Special Interest Volleyball and Stage 1 Volleyball to participate in the following events and trainings:

  • Regular approved Volleyball competition (e.g. Friday Junior League)
  • Regular trainings out of school hours as determined by the program and coaching staff
  • South Australian Volleyball School Cup

It is optional to attend the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup (approximate cost $2500).

Students are expected to wear the Volleyball training uniform for all lessons.

Students are expected to abide to the Special Interest Volleyball Program’s Behaviour Agreement.
