SUBJECT OVERVIEW

This course focuses on architectural design skills, both for built environments and physical environments. 

Students will use 3D CAD software to develop solutions to architectural design problems. Students will create architechural models and technical drawings with industry design software, such as Trimble SketchUp and Autodesk products.

Students will use manual fabrication and Computer Aided Manufacturing (3D printers, laser cutter, CNC Router) to produce a scaled architechural model which will be presented and assessed with their design folios.  Students will develop skills to produce industry standard technical drawings to present alongside their finished design.

ASSESSMENT

This subject consists of two assessment types:

  • Specialised skills tasks – 30%
  • Design process & product – 70%

Students are assessed against the design, technology and engineering SACE performance standards:

  • Investigation and analysis
  • Design, development and planning
  • Production
  • Evaluation
