Pre-Requisite:  'C' grade achievement in 10 General Mathematics 2 or 10 Mathematical Methods 2 is required

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

This course develops and enhances students’ mathematical skills through applications relevant to daily life and the analysis and relevance of data. It is suitable for students planning on any future learning including, TAFE, University or other study where a mathematical element is used. Examples of pathways could include but are not limited to: business/project/event management, nursing and medicine, electro-technology, finance and accounting.

This course is designed for students to achieve their SACE Stage 1 Numeracy requirement. This course is designed for students who intend to continue studying mathematics and is the pathway to year 12 General Mathematics.

Topics include

  • Investing and borrowing
  • Measurement
  • Trigonometry

Students develop problem solving and analysis skills using a mathematical modelling process and may be required to do some research and gather information from outside of the school as part of this course.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment tasks include:

  • Mathematical investigation 

A variety of tasks allow students to develop knowledge, skills and understanding through:

Additional Information

This is the pathway to year 12 General Mathematics or year 12 Essential Mathematics.
