Pre-Requisite: Students are selected by competitive entry by both school and state association coaches

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

The Special Interest Volleyball program (SIV) is recognised across Australia and even Internationally as a unique program that is intense and physically challenging, with the aim of developing athlete’s individual and team skills to their full potential. Participation in both the beach and indoor disciplines could lead to selection in school, state and national teams. Entry is through a selection process only.

Personal growth is a core aim of the program with development of appropriate learning habits, concentration, teamwork, trust and goal setting.

Theory components include:

  • Nutrition
  • Rules of the game and umpiring
  • Core values
  • Shine sexual health and relationships program

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the health and physical education Australian curriculum achievement standards and the Specialist Volleyball sport skill continuums.

  • Practical assessment evaluated against the Australian curriculum achievement standards

  • Reflection
  • Goal setting

Additional Information

Cost - $160

Fees may change prior to January 2025 when invoices are sent.

It is a requirement for students who select Year 7, 8 and 9 Special Interest Volleyball to participate in the following events and trainings:

  • Regular approved Volleyball competition (e.g. Friday Junior League)
  • Regular trainings out of school hours as determined by the program and coaching staff
  • South Australian Volleyball School Cup
  • Australian Volleyball Schools Cup (approximate cost $2500)

Students are expected to wear the Volleyball training uniform for all lessons.

Students are expected to abide to the Special Interest Volleyball Program’s Behaviour Agreement.
