SUBJECT OVERVIEW
Students develop skills to communicate meaningfully with people across cultures and an understanding of how French is used effectively and appropriately using various combinations of the skills of listening, speaking, viewing, reading, and writing for a range of purposes in a variety of contexts. Students explore a range of prescribed themes and topics from the perspectives of diverse individuals and groups in French speaking communities and in their own community. Students are expected to develop and apply linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills to:
• Interact with others to exchange information, ideas, opinions, and experiences in French
• Create texts in French to express information, feelings, ideas, and opinions
• Analyse texts that are in French to interpret meaning
• Examine relationships between language, culture, and identity, and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication

- The individual
- French speaking communities
- The changing world
