SUBJECT OVERVIEW

This course offers students the opportunity to continue working in the design and technology field with a focused approach on developing skills in product design. 2D modelling, 3D modelling and coding. Students will empathise with their client to define problems effectively and analyse opportunities for solutions. Through the development of 2D drawing/sketching techniques, 3D modelling and Computer-aided Machining, students will design and create solutions to the problems presented to them. The topics covered in this course can help refine designing and modelling skills needed in the senior years. Students wishing to follow a product or architectural design pathway will benefit from this course with opportunities to further develop knowledge and understanding in design thinking as well as skills using industry standard design software - Autodesk Fusion 360.

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed through formative and summative assessments in the form of Design Folio's and individual assessment tasks that cover the Design & Technology Australian curriculum achievement standards within the following content descriptors.
