Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of year 9 Japanese

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

The study of Japanese at year 10 builds upon prior learning of Japanese and continues to consolidate learning and develop student’s ability to communicate effectively in the target language. Knowledge and understanding of Australia’s and their own place in the world enables students to apply language skills in a more authentic manner. Students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they independently create and comprehend written and spoken texts that become increasingly more difficult. Students have the opportunity to attend a school study tour of Japan in wither years 10, 11 or 12 if they are studying Japanese. 

This may be a joint class with the year 11 students.

  • Matsuri, making arrangements

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the Japanese Australian curriculum achievement standards:

  • Receptive models: listening, speaking, reading and writing
  • Productive models: listening, speaking, reading and writing
