SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Students will continue to develop competency in the fundamentals of visual art establishing art practices. Students will increase their skills, knowledge and understanding of techniques to create ideas and concepts. Students will expand their thinking of artists and artworks that respond to social and historical contexts to create a voice in society. Students will be inspired and encouraged to develop their own relevant and personal ideas. Students will critically analyse artworks and evaluate practitioner's, and their own, artworks.

Topics may include

  • Drawing to create texture and movement including digital technologies
  • Media techniques such as pastel and acrylic painting
  • Mathematics in art
  • Visual study
  • Portraiture
  • Multi-media construction
  • Reflection and evaluation
  • Arts specific language and analysis

(can choose visual art A and B for the full year)

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the Visual Arts Australian Curriculum achievement standards:

  • Folio of development
  • Practical artwork/ products
  • Visual study: analysis of art movements reflection evaluation of others and own arts practice

Students will require:

  • A4 visual art diary
  • $10 excursion fee
  • Lead pencils
  • Coloured pencils
  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • 0.4 felt tip black fine liner
