SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Year 9 Digital Technologies students will be equipped with knowledge, skills and understanding for the digital future. This course expands on previous learning of Python programming, develops new knowledge, understanding and skills in website development using Java and HTML, and gain insights into cybersecurity best practices. You will use computational thinking to tackle problems with digital solutions and design user experiences.

This course isn't just about coding – it examines the impact of technology on society and explores emerging trends in "Digital Futures."  Students develop essential skills in operating systems, laying the foundation for confident navigation of the ever-evolving digital landscape.

  • Python programming
  • Cyber threats
  • Cyber security
  • Wbsite coding (Java, HTML)
  • Digital Futures
  • Operating systems

ASSESSMENT

Students will complete several different assessment tasks both formative and summative associated with learning content throughout the subject, these will be assessed against the digital technologies Australian Curriculum achievement standards.

Assessments focus on students:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Digital Systems and Data Representation
  • Process and production skills relating to their ability to acquire, manage and analyse data, their use of computational thinking skills to design programmed solutions and their privacy and security when working with ICTs.
