Students will demonstrate their learning in this area through the $20.00 Boss program in which they will identify a problem in society related to the un sustainable development goals and develop a solution pitching for $20.00 for a start up to set up a social enterprise.

History

The Year 8 curriculum provides a study of history from the end of the ancient period to the beginning of the modern period (c.650 BCE - 1750 CE).  This was when major societies around the world came into contact with each other.  Social, economic, religious and political beliefs were often challenged and significantly changed.  It was the period when the modern world began to take shape.

Students will demonstrate their learning through completing work firstly relating to the middle ages era and secondly through developing an inquiry about a specific group of people in the middle ages.

Geography

Students will focus on landforms and landscapes, the processes that shape individual landforms, the values and meanings placed on landforms and landscapes by diverse cultures, and hazards associated with landscapes.  They will explore the distrubution of Australia's distinctive landscapes and significant landforms.  They also consider the ways that the sustainability of significant landscapes and the impacts of hazards are managed to develop their geographical skills.

Students will demonstrate their learning through completing an Adelaide Hills landscape excursion in which they develop a geographic field trip report and inquiry to develop a proposal about an identified issue.
