Subject Overview
A hands-on subject where students will learn how to do DIY jobs around the home. This course will provide students with the confidence to tackle a range of jobs including fixing leaking taps, establishing a herb garden, installing an irrigation system, paving, bricklaying, hanging picture frames and painting.

Focus Of Learning
This course will aim to develop an ability to choose the right tool and materials for the job.
Students learn from hands-on experiences and develop an understanding of appropriate WHS procedures. Students also develop project management skills, understanding materials and process, communication and problem solving.

Topics include:
     Correct use of basic hand and power tools
     Identification and proper use of fixings
     Basic plumbing
     Basic carpentry
     Basic horticultural skills
     Bricklaying and paving
     Basic automotive maintenance

A variety of tasks allow students to develop knowledge, skills and understanding through:

Costs
There is no cost for this subject, though students are required to undertake a project at home as part of their studies. Some materials and equipment may need to be purchased depending on the project.
