Subject Overview
This extension program within Advanced Technologies is an integrated course in which Mathematics, Science and cutting edge technological skills and knowledge are developed, extended and applied. A significant STEM project is undertaken by students, in a negotiated area of choice, culminating in an expo where they present their findings.
Pathways for students include stage 1 Science, Mathematics and Technologies subjects (see learning pathways flow diagram image)
Focus Of Learning
Students develop high order problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills through both individual and collaborative investigation, research and inquiry.

Technology:
Use of design thinking, innovation and creativity in:
     Graphic Design
     3D modelling (CAD)
     Robotics
     Electronics
     Coding and programming

Science:
     The history, development, use and nature of science in:
     Sports Science, Health & Medicine, Nanotechnology,
     Ecosystems & Ethical Futures

Mathematics:
     Fluency, reasoning, problem solving and understanding of:
     Algebraic Modelling
     Measurement & Geometry

A graphics calculator (Casio fx-CG20 AU colour) at a cost of approximately $195.00. Production and lamination of poster for expo approximately $35.
Notes
Students who complete this course will be well placed to study Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other quantitative subjects at Stage 1 and 2.
