Subject Overview
This course has a ‘contemporary’ materials focus. Students design, produce and assemble a product that employs contemporary design principles, production and assembly techniques, while exploring a range of materials. Students use CAD to plan, design and make their product. Students develop a design folio that includes their investigation, planning, designs and costing. Students will be instructed in the safe use of selected portable tools and fixed machines.

Focus Of Learning
Students will incorporate various materials and contemporary methods, such as CAD & CNC Routers, when fabricating their projects. This course will help them develop important skills such as project management, understanding materials and process, communication and problem solving.
Students learn from hands-on experience and develop an understanding of appropriate WHS procedures. Students maintain a folio with all of their written work, homework and graphics.

     CNC Router Programming
     Use of Fixed Machines and Portable equipment
     Assembly Techniques
     Finishing Techniques

Prerequisites
o Successful completion of Year 11 Materials Technologies, or by negotiation with the Advanced Technologies Coordinator.
Costs
Students are required to pay for any material used over the value of $70.00
